Eeva Rinne
9/44
In this series of Bridget Rinne has explored the ideas of female identity and beauty ideals. She also investigates the matter of the photograph being an object and where the photographic image lies when its surface is modified, i.e. physically attaching material on the print.
The series talks about the homogenous beauty ideals with references to pop art. The repetition of the portrait creates an army of models, whilst the bright make up that is applied to the surface individually by hand gives depth to the black and white images.
The series question the standard codes of femininity and push the boundaries of photography, whilst being carefully constructed and enchanting images.
